Approach

Whether the text to be translated is general in nature or extremely specialized, the basic approach is the same. A coordinator is assigned to every project. This is important for translation into just one language, but it is absolutely crucial if the text is to be translated into several different languages (sometimes twenty or more!).

First, the coordinator forms an overall impression of the purpose of the text, the intended readership and the required 'tone of voice'. Is any reference material available? Is any additional information required? The coordinator then ensures that the translator has all relevant information.

DBF Communicatie uses only native-speaker translators. Each text is carefully scrutinized by a second translator, usually a member of our own staff. If this is not possible (perhaps because our knowledge of Finnish or Hungarian does not permit), we will arrange for an external quality control.

We always invite feedback from our customers, particularly with regard to the preferred terminology and 'professional jargon'. Such information helps us to keep our huge terminology database up to date at all times. Close cooperation with our clients ensures optimum communication, whereupon we soon become thoroughly familiar with each customer's specific wishes and requirements.
