How is the price of a translation calculated?

Our standard practice is to charge a fixed rate per word of the finished translation. Indeed, this is standard practice throughout the translation industry: it provides clarity and the wordcount can easily be verified.

On occasion, we may apply an hourly rate. This would be the case if part of the text has already been translated, or the work involves updating an existing document. (In either case, the hourly rate is more cost-effective for you, the customer.) We may also opt to apply an hourly rate if the text is extremely complex and contains a lot of highly specialized terms. (This is likely to prove more expensive than the fixed rate per word.) Needless to say, pricing arrangements will be discussed with you before we begin your project.
